Gray Reflection

The Horse: Smokey. 11 year old gray Quarter Horse gelding. Champion show horse. The focus of this Web site.

The Girl: Sarah. Loves the horse. 20 year old cowgirl (who likes to pretend she's a computer geek). College Student. Listens to country music. Known to many on the Web as Sailor Smokey. Artistic, horse-lovin', fun, fearless (almost), female. Totally in love with the man in her life, Jerry.

Ride It. Slide It. Spin It. Win It.

WELCOME

Welcome to Gray Reflection (GR)! GR is the home of Smokey, the Internet's versatile horse. For those of you who don't know what versatile is, it means multi-talented. Smokey is versatile because he can do all sorts of different things-from reining to western pleasure to halter and even jumping!

And your point is...

The point of this Web site is to allow horse lovers who are unable to own a horse to have contact with a real-life horse. Although nothing beats owning your own horse, it's still fun to share in the adventures of another horse; especially when that horse is a versatile champion show horse! Enjoy this site, and don't forget to join I Luv Smokey, Smokey's official fan club (membership is FREE)!

I am two weeks away from graduating, and it is not the easiest two weeks that I would have hoped for. It seems that I have to cram a lot of work into two weeks in order to graduate. Ha, of course I won't be allowed some bit of relaxation as I finish out my schooling.

I am trying to find a job now, but it is not easy out there. Hopefully I will get something soon.

Smokey is getting fat this winter as I have not had enough time for my boy. I am hoping to spend more time with him once school is done. I am trying to get up enough money to purchase a side saddle. I would like to show Smokey side saddle a little bit this year to try something new and different.

Jerry and I are going to get married this year, and hopefully we will get our house built, too. We are planning to build horse pens on our land so that Smokey, our new horse Roxy, and Lazy can come and live with us.

I will be re-doing all of my Web sites at the end of school. Also have some Web sites I am working on for other people. I think it's time to bring my sites back to life, I miss having a bunch of visitors.

Okay, that's all for now, I will be updating again in March.

Kayla, thanks for commenting!!! I feel loved now. *g*

Jerry's been doing very well with Smokey-boy. He's been winning a lot of stuff lately!

I was lucky enough to get to show Smokey a bit last month (thanks, honey!), and Smokey and I won high point of the day at a CCHA show! Jerry took Lazy and practiced riding him a bit at that show.

Our only shows this month are next weekend, August 14 & 15. We'll see how these shows go. I'm hoping we do pretty well!!

Well, I'm off to *ugh* schoolwork, and I'll try to post again shortly after the next shows.

Jerry showed Smokey on July 10, and did great! They got 1st place in Trail, Western Pleasure, and Western Equitation, and 5th place in Showmanship. They also won High Point Western for the day! Congrats!!

I showed Okavango at the show on July 10 in the English events, and we won Reserve High Point English for the day. We got 1st in English Pleasure, 2nd in English Equitation, 3rd in English Pattern, and 4th in Showmanship.

Our next upcoming show is on July 18. I think Jerry may attempt to show Lazy at that show, depending on how well he is getting along with him that day. I may actually get to show Smokey at that show.....I'll let you know how things go.

I'll keep you all updated! =)

I'm sorry....I know, I'm terrible at posting. But I have some super news to post today.

Jerry showed Smokey in two shows a week ago, one on June 12 and one on June 13. On the 12th, he got 1st in Showmanship, 1st in Trail, 2nd in Western Equitation, and 3rd in Western Pleasure. He ended up with high point for the day and got a nice trophy. I've got pictures to post as soon as I get them scanned in. =)

On the 13th, the competition is much more difficult at that show, but Jerry and Smokey still managed to pull off a 1st place in Western Equitation, which is a GREAT accomplishment for such a competitive horse show.

Congratulations you guys!!

Our next shows our on July 10th and 11th, so we are on a little break right now. I'm off of school until July 12, which is nice. We are going on vacation to see family in Iowa next week.

I'll keep you all posted on how things are going here....so stay tuned! ^.~

Jerry showed Smokey on May 8, 2004. He did really well, getting a 4th in Showmanship, a 3rd in Western Pleasure, a 3rd in Western Equitation, and a 4th in Trail. He would have won high point, but I showed in Trail with Lazy, and beat him by a placing, which, with the working of the points, cost him the winning point. Sorry, honey!! But he still did really, really good.

I showed Okavango in a show on May 9. She did really well for me against some tough competition. We got 2nd in Showmanship, 8th in English Pleasure, 9th in English Equitation, and 4th in English Pleasure Senior Horse. She didn't place really high, but was a very good girl, and I'm proud of how she did. A lot of the horses she competed against were simply better quality horses.

Our next show is on May 30. I will be showing Okavango again, and Jerry will be showing Smokey. Wish us luck!

Argh...OK...I just need to vent....

My school is angering me today. It costs me a lot of money to attend this school. And they can't get anybody to staff the library??? Hello...I need to re-check out a book that's due today!!!

And why do I have to have an instructor who can't teach and OBVIOUSLY favors one particular student in the class.

Argh!!!

Anyway, show season starts in two weeks!! I have a class, so I won't be competing, but Jerry will be showing Smokey on May 8. Wish them luck!!

I know, I know, I'm horrible at posting!! But I get so, so busy with school and everything else that happens in real life. Anyway, Smokey's first show of the year is coming up this Saturday, April 3. It's just a little schooling show, but should be a good way to open up the season. Jerry will be riding Smokey and I will be riding Okavango. I probably won't do any western classes with "Oko," as she does much better going English. But Jerry will be competing Smokey in the western classes.

Also, my birthday is coming up on April 5. I'll be 21 years old...can you believe it? Seems like I was 16 only yesterday.

Other news....well, there's not much. I'm still plugging along through school. I can't wait to be done with this next February. It's not easy.
